About Us
Abode Communities is a nonprofit real estate developer and owner focused on the production, preservation, and management of affordable housing in California. Founded in 1968, the organization transitioned in the mid-1980s from community planning and civic engagement work to affordable housing development in response to rising housing costs and homelessness in Los Angeles.
By 2000, Abode Communities assumed direct management of its housing portfolio and launched its resident services program, Beyond Homes, to support housing stability for families and seniors. The organization integrates development, property management, and onsite supportive services to address long-term housing needs.
Today, Abode Communities operates across multiple California markets and develops service-enriched affordable housing and community facilities designed to support long-term resident stability and community development outcomes.
