MidPen Housing is a nonprofit real estate organization headquartered in Foster City, California, that develops, owns, and manages affordable multifamily housing primarily throughout Northern California. Founded in 1970, the organization operates as a developer, owner, and long-term steward of income-restricted housing, working with public agencies, nonprofit partners, and private financing sources to advance complex housing projects. Its portfolio includes more than 139 communities with over 10,000 affordable homes and additional units in pre-development or pipeline stages.
The organization’s work spans family housing, senior communities, and supportive housing in 12 counties across the Bay Area and surrounding regions. MidPen frequently uses structured financing tools and public-private partnerships, including LIHTC and other funding programs, to deliver and preserve long-term affordability.
