About Us

Self-Help Enterprises (SHE) is a community development organization focused on affordable housing and infrastructure support for low-income families. Over the past 50 years, the organization has facilitated the construction of more than 6,000 owner-built homes, rehabilitated more than 6,000 substandard housing units, and developed more than 1,300 affordable rental units. SHE has also provided technical assistance to more than 100 small communities to support access to safe drinking water and sanitary sewer systems.

SHE operates nationally with a focus on farmworker and working family housing. Its programs include mutual self-help homeownership, multifamily affordable housing development with resident services, traditional homebuyer assistance, housing rehabilitation, and community infrastructure development.

Through these combined activities, Self-Help Enterprises has supported housing stability and community development initiatives impacting more than 50,000 families across multiple regions.
