About Us
The NHP Foundation is a nonprofit real estate organization headquartered in New York, New York, dedicated to preserving and creating sustainable, service-enriched affordable multifamily housing for low- and moderate-income families and seniors across the United States. Founded in 1989, the organization serves as developer, owner, and long-term steward of income-restricted communities, operating in roughly 16 states and the District of Columbia with offices in New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, and Baltimore. Its work spans acquisition, preservation, redevelopment, new construction, and asset management of affordable housing properties.
The foundation’s portfolio includes thousands of affordable units that provide homes to tens of thousands of residents, often supported by structured financing tools such as Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. NHPF partners with public agencies, nonprofit organizations, private investors, and community groups to deliver and maintain multifamily housing and integrates resident services designed to support stability and wellbeing. Its efforts include rehabilitation of existing properties, new developments, and community-focused resident programs.
