Junior Development Intern – Dallas or Atlanta

Role Summary
This micro internship provides a hands-on introduction to real estate development. Interns will shadow and work closely with analysts, associates, developers, and project partners to gain exposure to various aspects of the development process, including market research, financial analysis, project planning, and construction administration. This opportunity is ideal for individuals looking to explore real estate development in a professional setting and gain practical experience in a fast-paced environment.
This opportunity is only available for WIRE (Women in Real Estate) students at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct research on local real estate trends, pricing, and demand to identify potential investment opportunities and support market reports
- Assist in creating and maintaining financial models to evaluate project profitability, including income projections and ROI analysis
- Help develop and maintain accurate cash flow projections for new developments, factoring in rental income, operating expenses, and financing costs
- Support the evaluation of potential acquisitions by performing due diligence, property financial reviews, and market comparisons
- Assist in compiling and preparing documentation for financing applications, ensuring compliance with lender requirements
- Support the preparation of tax credit applications (e.g., LIHTC or Historic Preservation) by organizing documentation and ensuring accuracy
- Help prepare and update construction timelines, milestone charts, and resource allocation plans to ensure projects stay on track
- Participate in site visits to monitor project progress, document issues, and collaborate with construction teams to maintain quality control
- Assist in generating project status reports and facilitating communication among stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
- Complete other projects as assigned by a supervisor
Training & Rotations
- Two-week paid, in-person learning experience in a regional office (Dallas or Atlanta)
- Travel and lodging are provided for the two-week duration
- Program dates: Monday, May 11, 2026 – Friday, May 22, 2026
Required Qualifications
- Currently a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, pursuing a four-year bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, or a related field
- Active participation in WIRE (Women in Real Estate)
- Strong preference for candidates maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Proficiency in MS Office, including advanced knowledge of Excel
- Strong mathematics and analytical reasoning skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
