Insurance Risk Management Analyst

Role Summary
R4 Capital is seeking an Analyst to join the Insurance/Risk Management (IRM) team within the larger Risk Management team in the Boston, MA office to support an expanding transaction pipeline.
The Analyst will assist the Vice President, Assistant Vice President, and Associate members of the IRM team to facilitate the closing of both debt and equity Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) transactions.
What You’ll Do
- Analyze third-party insurance coverage in accordance with R4 Capital and R4 Capital Funding Investment Standards to determine compliance.
- Process insurance waivers and exceptions with supporting documentation for non-compliant insurance issues.
- Resolve non-compliant insurance issues with borrowers and insurance agents.
- Inform and educate internal stakeholders about insurance coverages, exclusions, and exposure.
- Provide technical support to Equity and Debt Acquisition/Originations, Underwriting, and Asset Management during the due diligence period on new transactions.
- Review appraisals, engineering, seismic, and Phase I environmental reports to identify insurance-related risk profiles.
- Track commercial multifamily insurance market rate trends and benchmark against R4 portfolio performance to model cost data and provide insights used in underwriting analysis.
- Assist with the annual renewal of R4’s corporate insurance program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 1–3 years of commercial multifamily insurance experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designations such as CIC, CPCU, ARM, AU, AINS, Property & Casualty license, or equivalent.
- LIHTC experience (preferred but not required).
Required Criteria
- Clear knowledge of commercial insurance coverage, including:
- Property (Flood, Wind, Earthquake, Terrorism)
- General Liability (Workers’ Compensation and Auto)
- Professional Liability
- Umbrella/Excess Liability
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and similar data analysis tools, with the ability to assess and create data sets to support business decisions.
- Ability to work as part of a team while providing a strong individual contribution.
- Excellent attention to detail, judgment, flexibility, accountability, and dependability.
- Ability to work in high-volume environments with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits
R4 considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, qualifications, and experience.
- Annual salary range: $65,000–$85,000
- Eligibility for a discretionary bonus
- Participation in benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, and 401(k) matching, in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans
