Role Summary
CIP is seeking an Associate on the Asset Management team (2–5 years of experience) with specific experience in multifamily, student housing or affordable housing to join the team in Dallas, TX.
This position offers the chance to participate in promote/carried interest in all opportunities, providing a clear pathway for growth in multifamily, student housing and affordable housing investments.
What You’ll Do
Asset Management & Construction Management
- Review and analyze monthly financial reports including actual vs budget analysis, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and delinquency reports
- Regularly review interior and exterior improvement plans and compare to budget
- Interface with construction management to ensure all CapEx projects are being executed according to business plan
- Execute business plans and provide new strategies to optimize operations
- Communicate with property level staff to understand current property operations and current budget variances
- Perform and document on-site property inspections and make recommendations to senior management and property staff
- Monitor asset strategies with senior management and provide project management assistance
- Develop and distribute asset management reports
- Create process documentation and build systems for recurring projects
- Provide new strategies including technology implementation into property operation
Accounting & Investor Relations
- Forecast cash requirements and communicate future cash outflows with fund accounting
- Monitor and administer loan covenants including reserve/loan draws, monthly escrows, and provide lenders financial information as required
- Forecast property distributions and communicate variances to fund accounting
- Perform monthly and quarterly investor reporting
- Provide other ad-hoc accounting and investor reporting assistance
Acquisitions
- Interface with Acquisitions team to assist with property level underwriting for multifamily opportunities across Texas, Georgia, Carolina, Florida, Arizona and other select markets
- Assist in due diligence for new acquisition opportunities
- Tour new acquisition opportunities with senior management
- Put together investment reports for new investment markets and opportunities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (business, accounting or finance preferred)
- 2–5+ years of prior experience in multifamily / student housing / affordable housing asset management, portfolio management or real estate accounting roles involving multifamily or commercial real estate
- Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word; proficient in AI tools
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical skills with ability to learn quickly; ability to work on a team and independently and manage multiple priorities
- Accounting background preferred
- Based in Dallas, TX
- Willing to travel as needed
