Role Summary
The Senior Portfolio Manager - Team Lead is a key member of the Tax Credit Lending coverage team, managing transactions and business portfolio tasks. This role involves managing a portfolio of accounts, making credit recommendations, and providing managerial oversight of a team of Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts. The successful candidate will work independently on complex deal structures and serve as a subject-matter expert and mentor to junior team members.
What You'll Do
- Provide managerial responsibility for a team of Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts
- Manage and monitor a portfolio of accounts through review of financial statements, proactive monitoring, and interaction with Credit Analysts
- Review and recommend credit decisions on complex transactions
- Partner with Relationship Managers to meet with clients, assess client viability, define borrowers and guarantors, establish deal structures, credit terms and conditions, and value collateral
- Generate commitment letters and perform final risk rating analysis
- Capture and document credit decisions, conditions, and modifications
- Collaborate with Credit Analysts on portfolio management duties including establishing investor groups on lender portal, performing monitoring actions, and conducting periodic deal reviews
- Communicate directly with clients regarding credit events and actions as needed
- Pitch and structure complex deal transactions independently
- Provide credit lending policy interpretation to business partners
- Mentor junior Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts and provide subject-matter expertise
- Leverage expertise to provide partners insights into the Bank's different lines of business and related economics
- Provide timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback to team members and develop employees to their fullest potential
- Maintain focus on continuous learning to keep up with market dynamics
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting)
- At least 8 years of credit analysis and/or loan review experience in Commercial Banking, including experience with various tax credit lending products, especially Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC)
- Highly proficient analytical skills, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Professional presence suitable for client-facing interactions
- Experience managing an advanced commercial client portfolio with significant complexity
- Ability to partner effectively with all deal stakeholders including clients, relationship managers, and credit teams
- Expertise in financial and risk analysis, including financial modeling
- Demonstrated expertise in effective problem-solving
- Proficiency with technology and ability to learn new applications
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like. Extended time at desk and viewing computer screen. Some travel required.
Compensation
$96,500–$207,500 annually. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education, and geographic location. This role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan based upon company, line of business, and/or individual performance.
