Role Summary

The Vice President of Debt Asset Management is responsible for managing and maintaining a high-quality portfolio of first mortgage loans secured by affordable multifamily projects developed with LIHTC equity. The role has full responsibility for asset and portfolio management of a first mortgage loan portfolio totaling over $500 million and oversees a rapidly growing national portfolio of affordable multifamily first mortgages.

The position reports to the Senior Vice President of Debt and includes extensive external interaction with servicers, borrowers, consultants, lenders, and investors, as well as regular reporting to executive management, board committees, auditors, and investors.

What You’ll Do

Manage all asset and portfolio management activities for a first mortgage loan portfolio of over $500 million, consisting of approximately 200 loans nationwide
Oversee third-party servicers performing primary loan servicing functions, including payment performance, escrow and reserve monitoring, quarterly financial reporting, annual property inspections, watchlist monitoring, special servicing needs, extensions, payoffs, and senior investor reporting
Oversee day-to-day management of the debt portfolio to ensure long-term strategic management and effective portfolio performance
Analyze portfolio performance with a focus on the financial, operational, and physical condition of underlying properties
Create and maintain comprehensive asset management and portfolio strategy plans
Prepare quarterly board reports summarizing portfolio performance
Provide timely, accurate, and complete internal and external reporting on portfolio performance
Monitor compliance with regulatory programs, including CDFI grant programs and CDFI Awards related to the debt portfolio
Oversee asset management functions for a legacy six-loan Charter School Commercial Real Estate portfolio
Work collaboratively with internal teams, including originations, finance, securitization, closing, and investor delivery groups
Establish and maintain relationships with servicers, borrowers, consultants, lenders, and investors as the primary asset management contact
Evaluate overall portfolio performance to support strategic business planning, benchmarks, guidelines, and policies

Required Qualifications

Seven to ten years of experience in a leadership role that includes mortgage servicing, asset management, mortgage lending, or affordable housing development, including LIHTC
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or another relevant field
Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis for a national loan portfolio
Skills in organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning
Ability to work in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment while driving toward clarity and solutions
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary is expected to be between $125,000 and $135,000, plus an annual performance bonus. Benefits include 401(k) matching, potential profit sharing, and an excellent benefits package upon eligibility. The role follows a hybrid schedule of four days in the office and one day working from home.
