Role Summary
To provide assistance to developers in all aspects of developing affordable housing projects, from financing and permit applications through construction and closings. The position works directly with developers to support funding applications, required approvals, project management, and project closeout activities.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor budgets during pre-development and development phases.
- Develop procedures to achieve the objectives of the real estate development program on a multi-county level.
- Conduct formal training with prepared materials for staff, participants, board members, and external groups.
- Prepare and obtain documents required during planning, construction, and project closings, including financing and permit applications, surveys, title, appraisals, State Historic Preservation Office review, and cost certification.
- Create and maintain checklists and project timetables.
- Meet development reporting requirements and prepare drawdowns and construction draws.
- Prepare elements of the application documents.
- Organize meetings and conference calls and prepare meeting minutes.
- Maintain professional communication with clients and assist developers with responses as needed.
- Organize and maintain a central file system for all development projects.
- Serve as a liaison with financial institutions and funding agencies related to housing programs, as appropriate.
- Research items from past projects for finance, auditors, and property management.
- Assist the Deputy of Housing Administration in maintaining the project pipeline and completed project lists.
- Maintain corporate entities.
- Manage online registrations impacting funding applications, including Grants Gateway, System for Award Management (SAM), and Dunn & Bradstreet.
- Maintain developer fee spreadsheets.
- Manage Community Development Online.
- Maintain forms, documents, and other materials required for compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal training and experience in one or more of the following fields: housing and community development, rural community and economic development, nonprofit housing and community development, management and administration, accounting, housing, real estate, finance, or title work.
- Minimum of five years of administrative experience and/or commercial paralegal work with demonstrated knowledge of real estate transactions.
- Financial analysis and computer competencies.
Required Criteria
- Ability to work flexible hours, including regular overnight and out-of-state travel.
- Access to an automobile and possession of a valid driver’s license and insurance.
- Minimal risk of exposure to hazardous building materials or disease agents.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $44,717.37 to $57,089.94 annually.
