Role Summary
Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as a Strategic Housing Officer. This role supports project development, community lending, and partnership efforts that help create and sustain affordable housing and strengthen communities across the Commonwealth. You'll work collaboratively with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders to respond to evolving housing needs while building and maintaining relationships with key organizations. Through these partnerships, this role helps expand housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income households and advance local community development strategies.
What You'll Do

- Build and maintain relationships with key organizations and partners
- Review market and feasibility studies and assess local and regional housing conditions
- Conduct project management and policy analysis across organizations or government entities
- Expand housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income households
- Advance local community development strategies
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in affordable housing, community development, finance, or a related field
- Degree in public administration, urban planning, community development, finance, business, or a similar area, or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of affordable housing finance, programs, and the current policy landscape
- Experience with project management, policy analysis, and working across organizations or government entities
- Ability to review market and feasibility studies and assess local and regional housing conditions
- Strength in relationship-building, facilitation, negotiation, and communication (written and verbal)
- Comfort engaging with diverse communities across Virginia and approaching challenges with a problem-solving mindset
- Willingness to travel within the State, including occasional overnight stays
- Valid driver's license and compliance with Virginia Housing's motor vehicle and HR policies
