Role Summary
The Affordable Housing Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring the organization's affordable housing properties comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including those related to funding sources such as the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, HUD, and other affordable housing programs. This role develops, implements, and maintains compliance programs, conducts regular audits, and provides guidance to property management teams to mitigate compliance risks.
What You'll Do
- Monitor and interpret relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to affordable housing programs
- Develop, implement, and update compliance policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory changes
- Ensure compliance with LIHTC, HUD, HOME, Section 8, and other affordable housing programs
- Oversee tenant file compliance, including initial certifications, annual recertifications, and interim certifications
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of tenant files and reports to regulatory agencies and funding sources
- Conduct regular audits of tenant files to ensure compliance with program requirements
- Develop and deliver compliance training programs to property management staff
- Establish and maintain a robust compliance monitoring program, including regular audits and site visits
- Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management and relevant regulatory agencies
- Track and report on key compliance metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement
- Lead investigations into alleged violations of affordable housing regulations, policies, and procedures
- Develop and oversee the implementation of corrective actions to address compliance issues
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or a related field
- Professional certification (e.g., Housing Credit Certified Professional - HCCP) required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in affordable housing compliance, preferably within property management or real estate
- In-depth knowledge of affordable housing programs and regulations, including LIHTC, HUD, HOME, and Section 8
- Proficiency in property management software and compliance tools
- Ability to travel at least 50% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with resyndication, acquisition rehabs, and new lease-up preferred
Compensation
$135K–$145K

Health insurance coverage, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO). This role is also eligible for discretionary bonus and incentive compensation on an annual basis.
