Working with local, regional, and national partners, CDT makes long-term equity investments and originates/acquires long-term mortgages to support the creation and preservation of affordable housing throughout the United States.

CDT’s total current investments have helped to create and preserve more than 38,000 units of affordable housing, providing homes for more than 135,000 residents. CDT is a private real estate investment trust (“REIT”) and a certified community development financial institution (“CDFI”).

Role Summary

The Vice President of Debt Asset Management (“VP”) is responsible for managing and maintaining a high-quality portfolio of first mortgage loans secured by affordable multifamily projects developed with LIHTC equity. The role oversees all asset and portfolio management for a first mortgage loan portfolio totaling over $500MM, consisting of close to 200 loans nationwide.

The VP manages third-party servicers performing primary loan servicing functions and reports to the Senior Vice President of Debt.

What You’ll Do

Manage CDT’s existing and growth debt portfolio through ongoing asset management
Oversee third-party servicers responsible for payment performance, escrow and reserve monitoring, quarterly financial reporting, annual property inspections, watchlist monitoring, special servicing needs, extensions, payoffs, and senior investor reporting
Analyze portfolio performance with particular attention to the financial, operational, and physical condition of underlying properties
Work with servicers and, as needed, directly with borrowers to identify challenges and execute timely, effective solutions
Oversee and ensure compliance with all regulatory programs within the portfolio
Create and maintain comprehensive asset management and strategy plans for the portfolio
Prepare quarterly Board reports summarizing portfolio performance
Provide timely, accurate, and complete internal and external reporting on portfolio performance
Maintain responsibility for the asset management loan database in coordination with the Finance team
Monitor compliance related to CDFI grants and awards for the debt portfolio
Oversee asset management functions for a legacy six-loan Charter School Commercial Real Estate portfolio
Serve as the primary asset management contact for servicers, borrowers, consultants, lenders, and investors
Report portfolio performance to executive management, board committees, auditors, and investors on an ongoing basis

Required Qualifications

Minimum of seven to ten years of experience in a leadership role that includes mortgage servicing, asset management, mortgage lending, or affordable housing development, including LIHTC
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or another relevant field
Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis for a national loan portfolio
Skilled in organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning
Excellent people skills with the ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
Ability to multitask and operate effectively in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree preferred but not required

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary expected to be between $125,000 and $135,000
