Role Summary
The Real Estate Development Financial Analyst assists the SVP of Real Estate Development and the Director of Real Estate Development in all aspects of affordable real estate development projects. The Analyst participates in multiple projects across various stages of development and supports financial analysis, funding applications, and project feasibility work.
This role requires strong financial skills, attention to detail, and effective communication while supporting affordable housing development activities.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in the completion of funding applications, including state and local Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and capital funding sources, including 4% tax-exempt bonds, 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), and other public and private lender opportunities
- Analyze and interpret complex legal and financial documents, including audits, loan documents, regulatory agreements, operating agreements, and organizational documents
- Perform analysis related to tax credit syndication and debt placement and evaluate debt and equity proposals with recommendations
- Assist in the coordination and preparation of documents related to construction closings and permanent conversions and participate in closing calls
- Participate in underwriting project feasibility, including the creation of development and operating budgets and the collection of supporting documentation
- Prepare predevelopment and construction finance draws for payment and coordinate with lenders
- Participate in design meetings and design development for projects
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of funding programs and requirements
- Coordinate across multiple departments, including Finance, Property Management, and Asset Management, to obtain information necessary for development projects
- Perform other real estate development–related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- BA or BS in Finance, Business, Real Estate, Accounting, or related field; graduate degree preferred
- 2+ years of relevant real estate or finance experience; affordable housing finance experience preferred
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong familiarity with MS Office software, including demonstrated proficiency using Excel for complex financial analysis
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to complete a wide variety of tasks within varying timeframes
- Resourceful and proactive with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities

- Requires flexible work hours, including regular overnight and out-of-state travel
