About the Employer

Phipps Houses is one of the nation's oldest and largest not-for-profit developers and owners of affordable housing. It is a multi-faceted real estate organization involved in the development, finance, construction, and asset management of new and rehabilitated multi-family housing for low to middle income New Yorkers. Through its subsidiary, Phipps Houses Services, Inc., it conducts residential and commercial property management, and its tax-exempt affiliate, Phipps Neighborhoods, provides human services to its development communities. Phipps is the largest developer and manager of affordable housing in New York City.

Role Summary

The VP/Area Manager will lead the day-to-day management of Phipps Houses' affordable housing portfolio in the Bronx. This portfolio consists of 1,400 units across 10 properties, including a mix of LIHTC and HUD properties. The position reports to the Senior VP/General Manager.

What You'll Do

Provide customer service to residents
Oversee a site management team and maintenance staff
Manage P&L responsibilities and budget oversight
Work collaboratively with site staff and other team members within the organization
Manage multiple projects while demonstrating excellent communication and budgeting skills

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or better in Business Administration
5–10 years of experience in affordable housing
Experience with Tax Credit, fair housing, affordable housing, and NYC landlord-tenant laws
Advanced proficiency in Yardi
Advanced written and verbal communication skills
Advanced ability to supervise others
Advanced budgeting skills
Detail-oriented with capability to carry out tasks with all necessary details to get the job done well

Preferred Qualifications

Dedication devoted to a task or purpose with loyalty or integrity
Leadership ability to inspire teammates to follow

Compensation

$175,000–$185,000, based on education, training, and experience. Position is eligible for year-end discretionary bonus.
