Red Stone-managed investment funds acquire interests in affordable multifamily housing communities throughout the United States.
Role Summary
The Vice President of Portfolio Management Finance will oversee a portfolio of Red Stone Tax Credit Funds, including both pre-stable and stabilized long-term assets and a range of 15-20 upper-tier funds. This role is responsible for ensuring investor deadlines are met and that all finance and tax-related documents are adequately reviewed.
What You'll Do
Fund Management
- Oversee each fund's books and records, including monthly reviews of cash activity, journal entries, and quarterly financial statement reporting
- Monitor and review upcoming capital contribution installments, coordinate internal reviews, and assemble capital call requests for investors
- Ensure timely completion of lower-tier and upper-tier modeling updates for tax credit projections and IRR calculations in quarterly investor reports
- Assist and provide direction to support staff on modeling updates and review their work for accuracy
- Oversee the annual audit and tax return process for lower-tier and upper-tier funds
- Manage receipt, review, and approval of lower-tier audits and tax returns to ensure upper-tier deliverables are completed on time
- Identify complex issues in audits and tax returns, communicate with CPAs and general partners, and provide resolution independently or with director assistance
- Thoroughly review upper-tier audits and tax returns, provide comments to CPAs, and ensure timely processing upon approval
- Complete interim requests timely and efficiently
Finance Oversight for Portfolio Management
- Review tax and finance-related lower-tier documents and communicate with CPAs, general partners, and property managers regarding potential issues
- Review cost certifications, DSCR and break-even analysis calculations, 50% test reviews, IRS Form 8609s, lower-tier audits and tax returns, first-year credit calculations, and net cash flow calculations
- Identify issues and provide solutions that will not negatively impact lower-tier funds or investors, with director assistance as needed
- Assist property managers with consent requests to be submitted to investors
- Update lower-tier modeling for individual scenarios to determine the impact of requests
- Identify negative impacts resulting from proposed changes and seek resolution beneficial to lower-tier funds and investors
- Communicate questions and concerns with lower-tier general partners and property managers in a timely manner
Relationship Management and Communication
- Actively participate in accounting and tax updates relevant to the LIHTC industry
- Respond to investor requests timely and thoughtfully
- Participate in calls with lower-tier general partners to discuss portfolio management matters and provide financial expertise
- Provide guidance and assistance to support staff, including analysts and interns
- Monitor daily tasks to ensure they are completed timely, thoroughly, and efficiently to meet internal and external deadlines
- Review select documents and provide feedback and assistance as needed
- Provide on-the-job training to develop technical knowledge and skills
- Communicate professionally and effectively with third parties responsible for delivering audits and tax returns
Required Qualifications
- BS in Accounting
- At least 5 years of experience in public accounting
- Experience with affordable housing clients
- Excellent Excel and financial modeling skills
- Ability to balance competing priorities and tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
Compensation
$110,000–$135,000 plus 20–25% bonus
