Role Summary
Join Virginia Housing and make a difference as a Sr. Multifamily Loan Officer. This position evaluates affordable multi-family housing construction and permanent loan requests, then makes recommendations for mortgage financing. You will work closely with mortgage brokers and multi-family housing developers, functioning as a project leader who coordinates other internal Virginia Housing Associates. This position reports to the Innsbrook office in Glen Allen, VA.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate affordable multi-family housing construction and permanent loan requests
- Make recommendations for mortgage financing
- Underwrite both construction and permanent loans funded by tax-exempt and taxable bonds
- Close and administer loans
- Coordinate with other internal Virginia Housing Associates as a project leader
- Work closely with mortgage brokers and multi-family housing developers
- Mentor junior staff
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent work experience) in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Economics, or Urban Planning
- Minimum of 5 years of multi-family real estate lending or development experience
- Understanding of real estate development and construction
- Strong organizational skills, communication skills and relationship management experience
- Strong interest in affordable housing and mission-driven lending
- Willingness and ability to mentor junior staff
- Valid Driver's License
- Must live and work within the Commonwealth of Virginia
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in affordable housing and multi-family underwriting
- Real estate finance experience
- Knowledge of Low-income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC)
- Strong negotiating skills
- Advanced degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Economics, or Urban Planning
Compensation
$109,000–$147,500
