Role Summary
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the planning, coordination, and execution of affordable housing development and rehabilitation projects. Working closely with project managers, developers, and stakeholders, the APM ensures projects stay on schedule, within budget, and comply with all regulatory requirements. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of affordable housing programs, financing, and construction processes.
What You'll Do
Project Coordination & Support
- Assist in managing affordable housing development projects from inception to completion
- Support due diligence, feasibility analysis, and project underwriting
- Maintain project schedules, track key milestones, and coordinate with internal and external teams
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and stakeholders
Financial & Regulatory Compliance
- Assist in preparing financing applications (LIHTC, HOME, CDBG, HUD, etc.)
- Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and support financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local housing regulations
- Work with legal and compliance teams to manage funding agreements and contracts
Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
- Communicate with government agencies, lenders, investors, and community partners
- Support general contractors, architects, and consultants in project execution
- Assist in securing permits, entitlements, and approvals
Construction & Operations Support
- Monitor construction progress, attend site visits, and assist in resolving project issues
- Coordinate with property management teams to ensure smooth project handover
- Support sustainability initiatives, energy efficiency measures, and green building standards
Required Qualifications
- 1–4 years of experience in real estate transactions, affordable housing, or (re)development
- Project Management: Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and support multiple projects simultaneously
- Financial Acumen: Familiarity with proformas, budgets, and affordable housing finance
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with diverse stakeholders
- Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Ability to anticipate issues, troubleshoot challenges, and find creative solutions
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills to review contracts, financials, and regulatory documents
- Technology Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office, project management tools, and affordable housing software
Compensation
$95K–$115K annually. This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of the Company's base compensation range for this position. Actual base compensation may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonus and incentive compensation on an annual basis.
